About the Name: As a veteran-owned coffee business, it’s no surprise that our coffee has historical roots. On June 1st, 1914, then Secretary of the Navy, Josephus Daniels, issued General Order 99 prohibiting alcohol aboard any US Naval vessel. Out of spite, sailors forever referred to their caffeinated beverage as a “Cup O’ Joe.”
